The symbiotic relationship between organisms is a repeated system throughout the natural world. Natural elements work together to change
our environments for better and worse; an impact especially felt in urban areas where artificial structures have eroded native wildlife. The tensions between artificial and natural forms ebb and flow in a delicate balance as explored through this collection of jewellery.

My body of work is shaped by the remarkable and pervasive role of lichens returning to urban spaces and our interactions with these forms. By crafting structural ring forms, my three pieces focus on communicating the textural world of lichens including froths of furred branches, undulating corrugated fronds and contrasting surface variation.

This notion of symbiosis between nature and human creations is reiterated through the material choice of the wax casting process into silver. reaction to sulphur pollution which kills lichen and tarnishes silver. This relationship of the material highlights the unification of natural forms into structural and wearable rings. A configuration utilising touch and the body to explore changes between human structures and the natural world through sensory curiosity.
